With Big Brother Australia done for the year (Congratulations Marley!) and Farmer Wants a Wife premiering this Sunday, we’ve been getting to know the farmers who are looking for love.
Today, we’ve got the goss on Farmer Rob, who’s a 40-year-old sheep and cattle farmer from the Snowy Mountains.
“Basically I’m looking for Penelope Cruz,” Rob says in his promo, before breaking into a hearty laugh. In reality, he’s after “someone who’s happy with their life”.
“I’m not trying to make someone else happy, I’m in the game to make someone else happier,” he explains.
Although Rob’s experienced love before, he’s never been married.
“The thought of being able to call someone my wife puts a smile on my face, because I’ve never been able to do that,” he shares. “In my previous relationship we had two beautiful children together, but never got around to getting married.”
Being a dad of two already doesn’t mean that more kids are off the table, though. If Rob met The One, he’d be open to the idea.
Rob says that trying to date while living on the farm can be tricky for a couple of reasons. First, you’re isolated, and second, “the women around you are married to your friends”! Certainly not ideal circumstances!
“The kind of woman who would come out to live on the farm here, she’d have to be a strong, confident person who loves an adventure,” he says.
Rob says that “trust is vitally important in a relationship” because “without trust, you’re building a relationship on shoddy foundations”.
Rob says he’s “a caring person in a relationship, never boring and always looking for a laugh” and will bring “passion, loyalty and positivity” into his love’s life.
He also believes in the possibility of finding true love on the show, and says that he’s “open to new experiences” in life.
“I’d like that lightning bolt to strike again and to find that true love,” he says, “it’s happened before in my life and I’m sure it can happen again.”
And in case you’re wondering, yes, he’d get rid of the beard for love, if it came to that!
Farmer Wants A Wife premieres at 7.00pm this Sunday, on Channel 7 and 7plus.
