Everyone’s Best Friend, Willie Garson Passes Away at Age 57
It’s a sad day for Sex and the City fans because everyone’s best friend Willie Garson has passed away at the age of 57.
Family members confirmed his death to Variety, but a cause has currently not been revealed.
Michael Patrick King, the executive producer of Sex and the City did mention, however, that Garson was not well.
The actor was set to reprise his role as Stanford Blatch on the reboot of the hit franchise, which is currently in the middle of production in New York City.
Willie also starred in shows such as White Collar, Girl Meets World, Supergirl and many more.
The star leaves behind his son Nathan Garson, who took to Instagram to share a beautiful tribute for his late father.
“I love you so much papa. Rest In Peace and I’m so glad you got to share all your adventures with me and were able to accomplish so much,” Nathen wrote underneath a carousel of photos of Garson. “I’m so proud of you.”
“I will always love you, but I think it’s time for you to go on an adventure of your own,” Nathen continued. “You’ll always be with me. Love you more than you will ever know and I’m glad you can be at peace now. You always were the toughest and funniest and smartest person I’ve known. I’m glad you shared you’re (sic) love with me. I’ll never forget it or lose it ❤️?”
His fellow co-stars have also joined Nathen with their own tributes, as they grieve the loss of their good friend and fellow actor.
Mario Cantone, who played Garson’s on-screen husband Anthony Marentino on Sex and the City said he is “devastated” by his co-stars death.
“I couldn’t have had a more brilliant TV partner. I’m devastated and just overwhelmed with Sadness,” Cantone wrote. “Taken away from all of us way soon. You were a gift from the gods sweet Willie. Rest …I love you.”
Willie was also an advocate for adoption. After adopting his son Nathan in 2009, he went on to serve as a spokesperson for National Adoption Day.
