Disney+‘s upcoming period fantasy series “Willow” will serve as a continuation of the eponymous 1988 film. After nearly 34 years, the live-action original series will pick up 20 years after the events of the movie it’s based on. Helmed by Ron Howard, the Warwick Davis-led movie chronicles the story of a sorcerer named Willow who embarks on a journey to safeguard an infant fated to bring down a tyrannical queen. The pilot script for the spinoff series was penned by Jonathan Kasdan – who also serves as a co-executive producer alongside Howard – with Stephen Woolfenden (“Outlander”) stepping into the directorial seat following Jon M. Chu (“Crazy Rich Asians”) and Jonathan Entwistle’s (“The End of the F***ing World”) exits from the project owing to schedule conflicts.
