Here’s What the Cast of “The Haunted Mansion” Are Up to Nearly 20 Years After Its Release

In “The Haunted Mansion,” the famed comedian plays real-estate agent Jim Evers, who must fight to protect his family after they’re summoned to a haunted mansion.

After “The Haunted Mansion,” Murphy continued his successful acting career in dozens of films, including “Dreamgirls,” “Norbit,” “Dolemite Is My Name,” “Coming 2 America,” and the Shrek franchise. He also announced his return to standup comedy in 2020 for a final tour, though it was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The actor is set to star as his “Beverly Hills Cop” character, Axel Foley, in a forthcoming sequel. He’s also starring in an upcoming Netflix rom-com titled “You People” with Jonah Hill, Nia Long, and Lauren London.

Marsha Thomason plays Sara, the wife of Murphy’s character. She is believed to be a reincarnation of a woman named Elizabeth, and the haunted mansion’s Master Gracey is determined to marry her and finally reunite with the woman he thinks is his true love.

Thomason went on to enjoy a long TV run after “The Haunted Mansion,” starring in shows like “Las Vegas,” “Lost,” “Easy Money,” “White Collar,” “The Good Doctor,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” and “Cobra.” She currently plays DS Jenn Townsend on BritBox’s “The Bay.”

Marc John Jefferies plays Michael, the timid son of Jim (Murphy) and Sara (Thomason) who overcomes his biggest fears during his family’s rescue mission at the haunted mansion.

Jeffries dabbled in more movies and TV shows after starring in “The Haunted Mansion,” including projects like “Get Rich or Die Tryin,'” “Dexter,” “Brotherly Love,” “Power,” and “Demonico.” Per Deadline, he’s also been cast to star in the forthcoming film “Dope King.”

Aree Davis stars in the film as Jim (Murphy) and Sara’s (Thomason) daughter, Megan, who also aids her family in escaping from the haunted mansion. Davis had small appearances in several TV shows – including “The Bernie Mac Show,” “Everybody Hates Chris,” and “ER” – after she starred in “The Haunted Mansion,” but she hasn’t been seen in anything else since the mid-2000s.

Shawn plays footman Ezra, who died and became a ghost of Master Gracey’s mansion as part of a curse. His character is also married to Emma (Dina Spybey-Waters).

Shawn’s storied career includes many animated projects; he offered up his voice for classics like “Teacher’s Pet,” “The Incredibles,” “Chicken Little,” and the Toy Story films. After “The Haunted Mansion,” he did voice work on “Family Guy” and also starred in TV shows like “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” and “She’s Gotta Have It.”

Spybey-Waters stars in the film as Emma, a maid and husband to Shawn’s Ezra, who is also a ghost trapped in Master Gracey’s haunted mansion as part of a curse. Following “The Haunted Mansion,” Spybey-Waters went on to star in “Just Like Heaven,” “Neighbors From Hell,” and, most recently, 2019’s “Chasing Molly.”

Terence Stamp plays Ramsley, the butler and main antagonist in the movie. He’s responsible for killing Master Gracey’s true love, Elizabeth, and trapping the Evers family at the haunted mansion.

After “The Haunted Mansion,” Stamp lent his voice to video games such as “Halo 3,” “Wanted: Weapons of Fate,” and “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.” He has also appeared in a myriad of movies, including “Get Smart,” “Valkyrie,” and, most recently, “Last Night in Soho” alongside Thomasin McKenzie, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Matt Smith.

Nathaniel Parker stars as Master Gracey, who allows the Evers family to stay in his mansion when they stumble upon it in a rainstorm. However, he soon traps them there when he believes that Sara (Thomason) is his late true love, Elizabeth.

Parker jumped into a plethora of TV and film projects after his role in “The Haunted Mansion.” He went on to star in “The Inspector Lynley Mysteries,” “Land Girls,” “Merlin,” and “The Beast Must Die.” His last film role was starring as Sir Robert de Thibouville in “The Last Duel.”

In the film, Tilly plays the infamous Madame Leota, the ghost of a gypsy whose head is encased in a crystal ball. Her character holds the answers to some of the haunted mansion’s most shocking mysteries – including why Sara is mistaken for being a reincarnation of Elizabeth.

Before she starred in “The Haunted Mansion,” Tilly already had a reputation for scary movies, most notably for playing Tiffany in “Bride of Chucky.” After starring in Murphy’s family comedy, she reprised her Chucky character for other spinoffs of the horror franchise, including “Curse of Chucky,” “Cult of Chucky,” and now, the “Chucky” TV series – which is currently airing its second season on Syfy.
