See the “Zoey 101” Cast 15 Years After the Show’s 2008 Finale
Zoey Brooks and her friends are officially back in “Zoey 102.” The film, which premiered on Paramount+ on July 27, serves as a sequel to Nickelodeon’s hit series “Zoey 101.” The original show starred Jamie Lynn Spears as a teenage girl named Zoey who attends a fictional boarding school called Pacific Coast Academy, where she befriends classmates like Chase Matthews (Sean Flynn), Quinn Pensky (Erin Sanders), and Michael Barret (Christopher Massey). Now, 15 years after the series ended in 2008, the original cast have returned to reprise their roles in “Zoey 102,” which sees the PCA students reunite to attend Quinn and Logan’s wedding.
The film is sure to give closure to original fans of the series. Since the show ended with Zoey and Chase finally becoming a couple, viewers craved another season of “Zoey 101” to see the pair’s relationship blossom, but it never happened. In 2015, Flynn and Massey reunited for a “Zoey 101” short involving their characters opening a time capsule. The cast then teased a possible revival of the show in 2020 by appearing in an “All That” sketch, as well as a music video for the show’s theme song, “Follow Me.” Flash forward to 2023, and our favorite PCA students are finally together again in “Zoey 102.”
Since it’s been so long since we’ve seen the “Zoey 101” cast, here’s what they looked like during their time on the Nickelodeon show versus now.
Jamie Lynn Spears as Zoey Brooks Then
After leaving Nickelodeon’s sketch comedy series “All That” in 2005, Spears went on to star as the title character in “Zoey 101” for three years until the series ended in 2008. During her time on the show, Spears received several nominations for her performance as Zoey and even won favorite TV actress at the 2006 and 2007 Kids’ Choice Awards. Although some fans speculated “Zoey 101” ended due to Spears’s pregnancy at the time, she has since clarified that wasn’t the case. “The show had already wrapped and there was never a negotiation to go into any more seasons. We were too old. It was done,” Spears told Nylon in 2020.
Jamie Lynn Spears Now
Following her time on “Zoey 101,” Spears took a break from acting and moved to Mississippi, where she welcomed her first daughter, Maddie Briann, with her then-boyfriend Casey Aldridge in June 2008. She was briefly engaged to Aldridge before the pair called it off in 2009 and then officially split in 2010. Afterward, Spears married businessman Jamie Watson in New Orleans in March 2014 and gave birth to her second daughter, Ivey Joan, four years later in April 2018. Since leaving Nickelodeon, Spears has found success starring in the Netflix series “Sweet Magnolias” as Noreen Fitzgibbons.
Sean Flynn as Chase Matthews Then
Sean Flynn played Zoey’s friend Chase Matthews. He’s had a crush on Zoey since meeting her at the beginning of the series. After being friends for years, the pair finally get together during the show’s final episode.
Christopher Massey as Michael Barret Then
Christopher Massey played Michael Barret. He’s Logan’s best friend and roommate, who’s also known to be a talented athlete. Over the course of the series, Michael often encourages Chase to confess his feelings for Zoey.
Christopher Massey Now
After leaving Nickelodeon, Massey made appearances on TV series like “The Electric Company” and “Switched at Birth,” as well as Nickelodeon’s “All That” revival. He also launched a music career and dropped three albums: “Heartbreak Ave,” “Centralia Love,” and “Fallen Star.” Outside of the spotlight, Massey is a father to daughters Bella and Mariah and son Carter.
Erin Sanders as Quinn Pensky Then
Erin Sanders played Zoey’s friend and roommate, Quinn Pensky. She’s a smart girl who’s always creating new inventions. At the end of the series, she begins dating Logan. Although the two initially hide their relationship, they confess their love to each other in front of the whole school during the series finale.
Erin Sanders Now
After “Zoey 101” ended, Sanders starred in “The Young and the Restless” before moving on to another hit Nickelodeon series: “Big Time Rush.” Sanders was on the show for four years until its finale in 2013. Since then, she’s acted on TV series like “Melissa & Joey” and “All That,” as well as in the films “Guilty at 17,” “Limelight,” and “The Call.”
Matthew Underwood as Logan Reese Then
Chase’s other roommate, Logan Reese, was played by Matthew Underwood. In the series, his character is seen as a spoiled rich kid who flirts with all the girls at school. Although he comes off as self-absorbed, he cares for his friends deep down inside. During the show’s fourth season, he begins dating Quinn. Since they’re afraid of what their friends might think of their relationship, the pair initially date in secret, but they later come out as a couple.
Matthew Underwood Now
Underwood has kept busy by directing and starring in various TV movies and shorts like “The Magic Studio,” “The Golden Stars,” and “Time Hoppers.” In 2013, he also collaborated with Spears by directing the music video for her debut single, “How Could I Want More.” He reunited with Spears and the rest of the “Zoey 101” cast in 2020 to film a music video for the new version of the show’s theme song, “Follow Me.”
Jack Salvatore Jr. Now
Salvatore Jr. had a minor role in the 2009 comedy film “Stay Cool.” He also had guest appearances on the TV series “Mind of Mencia” and “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” before landing a recurring role on “10 Things I Hate About You.” In 2013, Salvatore Jr. returned to Nickelodeon with a cameo in “Victorious.” As far as his personal life goes, Salvatore is married to Christine Salvatore, and the couple share a daughter.
Victoria Justice as Lola Martinez Then
Victoria Justice stepped into the role of Zoey and Quinn’s new roommate, Lola Martinez, starting in “Zoey 101” in season two.
Victoria Justice Now
Justice went on to have a stellar career on Nickelodeon, starring in the uber-successful musical series “Victorious” alongside Ariana Grande from 2010 to 2013. Justice does not appear in “Zoey 102,” but only because the timing didn’t work out amid her busy schedule. She certainly hasn’t slowed down since “Victorious” went off the air, having starred in popular movies like “Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List,” “Afterlife of the Party,” and, most recently, “The Tutor.”
