Where Are Australia’s Biggest Fashion Bloggers From 2014 Today?

In October 2014, the Australian docu-series Fashion Bloggers premiered on TV. The show starred the country’s biggest bloggers at the time, including Margaret Zhang, Kate Waterhouse and Sara Donaldson, chronicling their professional and personal lives.

Now, 10 years on, many of the bloggers featured on the show and others who were popular at the time have gone on to start families and businesses, and many of them have continued to have a strong online presence, while others have vanished from the spotlight.

Ahead, we share what the fashion bloggers have been up to for the past decade, including Jessica Stein (@tuulavintage), Carmen Grace Hamilton (@chroniclesofher) and Brooke Testoni (@brooketestoni). From pregnancies and toddlers, to a tanning brand and an online luxury store, here are their lives 10 years later.

Jessica Stein

Ten years ago, Jessica Stein was one of the world’s biggest fashion bloggers, sharing her travel photos on her blog. She was starting to share them on her Instagram (@tuulavintage). In March 2017, she gave birth to her daughter Rumi Willis Cooper after a complicated pregnancy. Cooper has a rare chromosomal disorder, and Stein has since spoken about the struggles to manage it. In June 2023, Stein shared that she and her daughter shared features of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Marfan Syndrome and Brittle bone.

Nicole Warne

In the decade since Nicole Warne became known in the Australian fashion scene for sharing outfits and travel adventures on her blog Gary Pepper Girl, she married her long-time partner Luke Shadbolt and, in 2019, had a baby named Sakura, nicknamed Suki. The family split their time between Sydney and New York City.

Margaret Zhang

Margaret Zhang started her career sharing fashion on her blog Shine By Three, while she studied law at Sydney Uni. In February 2021, she was named Vogue China’s editor-in-chief, becoming the youngest person to earn the editor role at any Vogue. Her appointment was the title’s first outside the traditional media world. In February 2024, she announced her departure from the title. In June 2024, she shared that she was pregnant with her first child.

Sara Crampton

Sara Donaldson who shared fashion inspiration photos and then photos of herself on her blog Harper & Harley now goes by Sara Crampton. In 2018, she married her partner Rich Crampton and the couple have since had three kids, including twins. She now runs e-commerce store The Undone, which stocks Australian and international designers, and is an influencer.

Natasha Oakley

A decade ago, Natasha Oakley and her American best friend Devin Brugman were sharing photos of themselves in bikinis and swimwear on their blog A Bikini A Day. Fast forward to today, and Oakley has four businesses: Monday Swimwear, Monday Body, The Pilates Class and The Birthing Class. In May 2024, she released a book to help entrepreneurs, Excessively Obsessed, in which she shares lessons learned from starting her companies.

Whittington shared photos she’d taken and of herself on her blog Zanita Studio and Instagram account (@zanitazanita). Originally from Esperance, WA, Whittington lived in Amsterdam and New York City before settling in Melbourne. She has daughters Aster and Sadie.

Elle Ferguson

Elle Ferguson rose to fame in Australia because of the blog she shared with Tash Sefton, They All Hate Us. Today, Ferguson works as an influencer, runs a tanning range called Ele Effect and hosts podcast Sliding Doors With Elle Ferguson which sees her talking to inspirational people in fashion and beauty. She and her ex-AFL player partner Joel Patfull appeared on The Block in 2022 but quit the show after three days.

Amanda Shadforth

Amanda Shadforth appeared on the show Fashion Bloggers after becoming well-known in the fashion scene for her blog Oracle Fox.
