South By Southwest (otherwise known as SXSW) has currently taken over the city of Austin, Texas, like it has been since 1987.
Each year since it’s birth, the 10-day long festival is a hub for creative professionals across film, music, media and tech. It describes itself as “an essential destination for global professionals”, with the annual March event featuring music and comedy showcases, film screenings, exhibitions, professional development, and a variety of networking opportunities.
Up-and-coming — as well as already established — artists, come together and talk about their upcoming or most recent projects.
At this year’s festival, stars like Kaia Gerber, Nick Jonas and Tilda Swinton were in attendance, all to talk about professional and personal projects.
But with the festival making it’s way to Sydney in October of 2023, we thought it would only be right to do a round up of our favourite fashion we’ve seen at SXSW so far.
While Kaia Gerber has kept it classic and minimal, Tilda Swinton has brought her iconic Vivienne Westwood-esc ice-queen look to the carpet, plus many up-and-coming comics and actors making bold choices with fabrics and colours.
While we’re seeing lots of colour blocking, with multiple ‘fits made up of a red dress and/or jacket, red tights and shoes, we’re also seeing a return to simple silhouettes — leaning into a slim, straight, fitted shape — accentuating different body shapes beautifully.
