With so many sales on this winter as shops begin to clear out their cold weather stock, it can be seriously overwhelming for us shoppers. Not to mention that at this time mid-season, you question whether what you’re buying will still be relevant in a few months’ time when we’re in spring and then summer.

As the POPSUGAR Australia team works in the fashion space, many of us writing about it day in and day out, we thought we’d help you out, by sharing what we ourselves bought or eyed this July.

From a pair of ethically made chunky sandals, to a cropped cardigan on sale for under $30, to an initialled necklace, here’s what we added to our carts this month.

I only have one pair of boots right now and they’re getting a lot of wear, so I thought I should get a second. I thought these Western-style shoes could be worn now, but still be fine for spring, and maybe even summer, if I wore them with a dress or skirt. They’re very Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie when they were styled by Rachel Zoe.

I bought this necklace, and I LOVE. It reminds me of a summer European holiday. I love to layer it with other gold pendent necklaces, and wear it with cute linens, flare jeans and simple staple pieces. The initial makes it feel personal and cute. Even better, it’s from a local Australian designer — it’s quality at a great price!

Arms of Eve Beaded Gemstone and Pearl Initial Necklace, $120

I’ve been eyeing this brand. I had seen their shoes around for a while, and apparently, they’re really comfy. I really like that chunky sandal style and love that they are ethically made.

Twoobs The OG+ Jonathan Van Noir, $149

I haven’t shopped at Just Jeans in a while, but a girlfriend linked me this cardigan on Instagram the other day, and it was exactly what I had been searching for all winter: a cute cardi I can throw on with jeans, a white t-shirt and some sneakers. I loved the baby blue colour of this one in particular, and of course the very affordable price tag.

Just Jeans Lucia Luxe Cropped Cardigan, now $27.30

Shona Joy is one of my favourite designers, and these pants are calling my name. I love to wear tailored clothing, I’ve been on the hunt for a great-looking pair of wide-leg pants, and these definitely fit the bill. They’re structured enough to look formal, but with the right top, can be dressed down to look more casual. They’re on the expensive side, but at the end of the day, they’re a staple item, so I know I’ll be wearing them for years to come. A classic pair of wide leg pants never go out of style, and I thought I’d splurge on a pair since in the past, I’ve bought too many cheap ones I haven’t been happy with.

Shona Joy Irena High Waisted Tailored Pants, $260

I bought these because I needed a pair of deep blue jeans to up my jean game for work. I don’t love jeans, so I always opt for a baggy type, and these fit right into that category being a wide leg flare. Also, they are at a great price point. I actually bought them in both this colour and the lighter denim for a more casual look.

Zara High Rise Wide Leg Palazzo Jeans, $79.95

Somehow I’ve managed to avoid ever owning a puffy jacket, but living in Melbourne, I’ve been eyeing off investing in one of these. I love the classic appeal of it and the quality of Kathmandu products, they are always worth the investment. They are the universal winter uniform so I probably can’t call myself a true Melbournian without a puffy jacket to take me from farmers market to beach walk!

Kathmandu Winterburn Women’s Down Coat, $599.98

I’ve been eyeing off chunky loafers for months and finally think I’ve found the pair for me with CHARLES & KEITH’s collaboration with Coco Capitán. The penny loafers is a classic pair. While the chunky sole is decidedly “in” this winter, it’s the modern contrast stitch-trim and pastel floral illustrations (plus a romantic poem inscribed on the side) that really sold me.

Prene is known for its neoprene with rope straps, carry-all bag that everyone seemed to have a couple years ago, but they recently came out with a bunch of new bags which took the brand in a new direction. I wear this neoprene bag almost every time I go to lunch or dinner on the weekends, and it fits with nearly every outfit. It’s either this one or a vintage Louis Vuitton purse I recently bought in NYC.

Prene The Spencer Bag, $129.95

Nicola Laing, Group Strategy Manager

I haven’t bought this one yet, but it has been sitting in my cart for a few weeks now. I am after a little black bag that is more suited to going out in the evening, but I really want something simple and classic I can keep using for years to come. This week might be my time to buy as it’s 30% on The Iconic.

See By Chloe Mara Evening Cross Body Bag, $770

Honestly, I’m eyeing off their unitards. I see all the TikTok gals wearing them, and I just feel like they’re super low maintenance style/work out outfit and then they’d also be super cute in summer with like a big t-shirt over them for like an easy brunch ‘fit or going for a coffee and a walk with friends etc. I wouldn’t get this one though, I’d get the black which I’ve seen in store!

Glassons Active Supersoft Unitard, $39.99
