The Best Street Style Looks We Saw at Glastonbury Festival 2022
Glastonbury Festival, in the sleepy English town of Pilton, is one of the biggest and best music festivals on the planet. Officially the world’s largest green field music festival, the site has played host to all of pop’s biggest stars over the past 50 years.
Everyone from Dolly Parton, Kanye, and Kylie to Beyonce, Jay-Z, Adele, and Snoop Dogg have graced the iconic Pyramid Stage and this year is set to be bigger than ever. The festival’s oldest ever headliner, Paul McCartney, will play the day after the festival’s youngest ever headliner, Billie Eilish. Kendrick Lamar will be closing out the headliners on Sunday in front of what is expected to be a truly packed-out crowd.
While each year of the festival is one for the history books, this year is particularly special as the pandemic put the festivities on pause for the past two years, postponing the half-century anniversary celebrations.
Now, as 200,000 punters make their pilgrimage to the ancient rolling hills in England’s southwest corner, POPSUGAR Australia is on-site to document and record the faces and fashion of the people who make this place what it is.
We’ve been out and about in the crowds this year snapping the latest in festival chic and will be updating this piece daily with the hottest and most outrageous looks we’ve seen so far.
Here’s what the greatest outfits of Glastonbury 2022 look like.
Day One
As far as festivals go, Glastonbury is a marathon. Gates open at 8am on Wednesday morning and the pack-up doesn’t start until Monday. Day one saw thousands queuing through the gates and the country lanes to enter the site under glorious English sun, setting up camp in the (relative) heat before retreating to the famous Glastonbury sign on the southern hill for views of the sunset over the site and a welcoming fireworks display.
While the looks were more functional upon arrival, some came dressed to impress from the start.
Day Two
Set up continues on day two as those who couldn’t get work off continue to arrive through the gates. The main stages don’t officially open at Glastonbury until Friday so Thursday is another day of getting acquainted with the vast, 3.2 million square metre site.
Still, the vibes are definitely building as festival-goers shake off the dust from opening night. Here’s who we saw:
Izzy, 23, Swindon
“I try and dress as colourful as I can but this is the first year I’ve had a job and adult money so I’ve been able to go all out with my outfit.”
Ellen, 30, London
“I’m really looking forward to Kendrick Lamar and Khruangbin.”
Bella, 25, Bristol
“My boyfriend bought me this. He’s got great taste. Not many men are like that.”
Emma, 28, Maidenhead
“The energy is amazing. It’s a bit overwhelming to be honest. I still can’t believe we’re here.”
Lilly, 35, Somerset
“This coat, my grandmother actually knitted this. She does loads of these but I asked her to do a really big version.”
Day Three
Day three sees the festival really kick into high gear. On Friday the main stages opened, with Wolf Alice, First Aid Kit, and Billie Eilish bringing the tunes.
Weather-wise, it’s been a lot colder, with cloud cover across the site for most of the day and showers on and off. As such, the outfits have had to accomodate for the wind and the rain but nothing is going to stop these party people.
Enea Luciano, 24, Hull
“Oh my god it’s been amazing. I’m looking forward to seeing one of The Beatles!”
Amy Higgins, 30, Wales
“I’ve been coming for years, since I was 17. I’m going Coachella vibes this year.”
Kate Ryan, Sydney and Mink, 32, Sydney
“First time here! Three years in the making though.
“[The outfits] are Rosa Bloom, who’s a designer who usually has a stall at Glastonbury, and she hand makes them in Brighton.”
Day Four
Saturday means we’re well into the mix and past the halfway mark for the festival. Last night’s headline set from Billie Eilish drew what felt like most of the festival crowd, and was topped with a stunning laser and light display which included a barrage of fireworks.
With just two days left, no holds have been barred and the outfits are here to match.
Bree, 28, Wollongong
“I’ve got Lucy & Yak jeans and they’re organic cotton which I love. I’ve got my Aussie Blundstones on, classic, have to have that”.
Tyree, 32, Newcastle
“The dress is from Sister Jane, I’ve got Blundstone boots and I actually just bought this jacket here yesterday on a random impulse buy.”
Maura, 40, Dublin
“This is from Rosa Bloom and this is just from a random wig shop.”
Zoe, London, 36
“This jacket was actually bought in a sample sale and I think someone didn’t realise it’s actually YSL. They were just chucking it away!”
Grace, 27, London
“I normally dress quite colourfully in pastels. Especially in summer time, I feel like it really picks your mood up.”
Day Five
The final day of Glastonbury brought perfect weather and a joyous end to the festivities with dance anthems from Diana Ross, Lorde, and Charlie XCX.
By this point, everyone was a little run-down, but determined to push through, embrace the sunshine, and finish the weekend with a bang. Here’s what was being worn.
Gabrielle, 28, Malton
“I was thinking disco for Diana Ross. I love all the pink and bright colours.”
Maddy, 26, London
“The hat is different but I normally wear this kind of stuff. I got it at ASOS and it’s been to a lot of festivals.”
