The #1 Colour Trend We Spotted All Over Fashion Week — And Where to Buy It Now

In every direction we looked all throughout Afterpay Australian Fashion Week 2022, we saw pops of green.

Lime green, emerald green, peacock green, 70’s green… you name it, every shade of green made multiple appearances and honestly; we kinda saw it coming. Green has been making a comeback slowly and steadily throughout the past few years, with the resurgance of ’70s interior style and Y2K-inspired fashion, we’re moving away from dark broody tones, and heading more towards bold pops of colour.

While colours like orange, pink and blue were also prevalent throughout AAFW‘s shows and street style, green outdid them all, appearing at least once in almost every show, and dotted throughout the street style crowd aplenty.

On the runway, we saw everything from green evening dresses, to green accessories, as shown below in photos of the Oroton and Mariam Seddiq Resort ’23 shows.

This could just be me getting all sentimental, but this green fashion moment reflects where we are in the world right now. We’re currently living in a post-pandemic era, where we’re still finding our feet within normalcy and healing from an experience that impacted all of us in such vast and different ways.

Green, which universally represents renewal and ressurection, is an aesthetic reflection of what many of us are feeling right now; working on building ourselves back up again and finding ways to heal and grow.

When fashion reflects universal emotions and movements, it’s truly such a magical thing. It’s moments like these that remind us how important fashion really is, and how it has a subconscious impact on us; even if we don’t feel overly passionate about it.

You can’t argue that your surroundings don’t impact you, and the way that people dress is such a massive part of how our individual worlds look. There’s no doubt that being surrounded by green, makes us feel just a little bit brighter and a little more hopeful.
