A Breakdown of Gaga’s Gucci Looks We’ve Seen So Far

There’s something about ’90s Euro-chic, which is so rich and blingy, that makes it kinda trashy and we love it.

Coming from Italian heritage, maybe I’m a bit biased for my love of gaudy Italian fashion, but the ’90s did it best. It was big hair, shoulder pads, fitted suit jackets, lots of gold chains, rings and an almost always constant cigarette.

We’re basically describing the styling in the highly-anticipated House of Gucci trailer, which dropped on the weekend.

Unsurprisingly, Lady Gaga seems to fit this role of Patrizia Reggiani — Maurizio Gucci’s wife who had him murdered — like a glove. She’s dramatic, she’s bossy, she’s passionate and it shows through her outfits.

These are our favourite looks so far.

Ski-chic

I mean, every lady in the snow needs her bling. I absolutely love the gold chains and pearl necklaces over the turtleneck. The all black gives the bling more of an understated, classy look. The big gold bracelet is giving me huge Nonna vibes. Her fluffy white cossack hat really ties the outfit and them as a couple, together.

A night out

This ‘fit is serving up major Sophia Loren energy. In this shot, Gaga looks like a real movie star. It’s the colour of the gown, the long gloves and the museum-worthy necklace for me. Also, her face looks sensual and elegant.

At-home wife

This scene looks like an all-in family conversation about business, over wine — very Italian. Leto’s character tells her: “You are Gucci, you need to dress the part” while she sits on the edge of the couch next to her husband in this white lace look. If this isn’t dressing the part, I don’t know what is. This fabric looks like it’s come straight off an Italian dining table, but somehow, she makes it look sexy. Everything about this screams European, from the shape of the dress, to the belt, to the cardi over the shoulders. LOVE.

Snow queen

Another iconic snow look. She’s in what we can only imagine to be a red puffer jumpsuit, complete with diamond encrusted rings, perfectly coloured-in eyebrows and everyone’s snow necessity: an espresso. I love the fur hood, a very lush European go-to.

Trinity Knot

“The Father, The Son and The House of Gucci.” This already-iconic line is being said by Gaga in this scene. This look is everything. The thick gold chains around her neck, the bracelets over her sleeve, the cigarette in a ring-encrusted hand and her perm is on fleek. Also, this dress? Polka dots were very ’90s Euro and paired with this box neckline, it’s simply *chefs kiss*.

Gucci in the club

Here, we have a sequin halterneck moment. Again, with the stacks of necklaces, bracelets and big earrings. They really do not make jewellery like this anymore. Everything is unbelievably bold, more is more. In this specific scene, I love her hair. The straight fringe and heavy perm pinned up on the sides is iconic. I feel like all my mum’s friends had hair like this during my childhood, in the early ’90s.

Sunnies are a girl's best friend

Perhaps Patrizia Reggiani’s most recognisable fashion choice is her big sunnies, which give her an air of importance, high fashion, mystique and ego.
