The Hand-on-Hip Pose Never Stood a Chance Against Laverne Cox’s Elegant Red Carpet Posing

When Laverne Cox pops up on the red carpet, you know she’s about to steal the spotlight as if it were rolled out solely for her. Such was the case when the Promising Young Woman actress attended her personal runway show the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Opening Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday. Wearing a silver pleated gown and accompanying cape custom-made by Johanna Johnson, Laverne looked angelic as ever while striking a series of elegant poses for the cameras before heading into the star-studded event. She gave us angles. She gave us drama. She gave us flashbacks to her Zac Posen catwalk performance. And most importantly, she gave just what we needed to kick our basic hand-on-hip pose to the curb for good.

Although Laverne’s expert posing made her gown the center of attention, we, of course, must acknowledge her stunning accessories as well. Styled by Christina Joy Pacelli, the star slipped on silver Beladora jewelry, a diamond-shaped Judith Leiber clutch, bedazzled Garo Sparo gloves, and clear pumps.
