With the decade coming to a close, it’s only fitting to take a look back at all of the inspiring fashion moments that shaped these pivotal years. It was a time when someone convinced Lady Gaga that walking a red carpet in meat dress was a great idea. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, aka Kimye, tied the knot in 2014 and made wearing matching “Just Married” leather jackets a wedding necessity. The 2010s were also a time when Instagram, Twitter, and memes came into existence – honestly, what was life before?
We’re reminiscing about the looks so huge, they made “going viral” a thing. For starters, Rihanna sparked a thousand memes in a furry, yellow, robe-like ensemble by Guo Pei during the China: Through the Looking Glass-themed Met Gala in 2015. My favorite had to be the one where Sarah Jessica Parker’s Met Gala headpiece, which resembled a flame, helped turn Rih’s gown dress into an omelette. Nowadays it seems like if your red carpet look isn’t getting turned into a meme, you’re not doing it right.
