Last year, new mum Jaclyn Safley landed in Australia after a 16-hour flight and faced a full day of meetings for her role as GM of Global Nike Training Women’s. She’d left her newborn for the first time at home and so, in the stress of that, hadn’t had time to pack properly. Instead, she’d thrown the clothes she thought she might need in a suitcase.
“I didn’t have time to check into the hotel, had no time to freshen up,” says Safley. “So, I opened my suitcase in a public bathroom, rummaged through and found 24.7.”
Nike 24.7 is the brand’s latest apparel collection, announced this January, which Safley calls the perfect intersection of sport, innovation and style. As its name suggests, it’s meant to suit any activity. You can wear it to a meeting, on a night on the town or while working out. It features the brand’s much-loved sweat-wicking tech Dri-FIT, as well as two new tech materials: ImpossiblySoft (double-knit, super-soft fabric) and PerfectStretch (lightweight and four-way stretch).
“I was completely jetlagged,” says Safley. “Didn’t sleep on the flight. I was anxious about an entire day of meetings, and I didn’t look my best. And then putting on that product, I instantly felt better. I hadn’t folded anything, so I pulled it out of my suitcase and was ready to go. It’s a great example of how the product was intended.”
The collection was two years in the making and came about after hearing from athletes that they wanted clothes that worked on and off the court — for sport but also everyday and professional life. Like every Nike collection, 24.7 was tested by athletes during its creation process and refined based on their feedback.
It includes jumpers, tops, skirts, trousers, joggers and sports bras. Women’s pieces come in Western (2XS – 2XL) and Asian (XS – 2XL) sizing while men’s pants are available in numeric sizing with slim and standard styles. Pieces come in black, blue, grey, green, brown and cream. Safley’s favourite women’s pieces are the button-down, as well as the wide-leg pants, specifically when worn together.
“You honestly look so chic, so elevated,” she says. “The fit is incredible. And again, the versatility and comfort that we focused on in these elevated silhouettes is really the defining thing about this collection. I personally just feel great in them.”
