The Pride Fashion Collabs We’re Adding to Cart In 2021
For the fifth year in a row, POPSUGAR is dedicating the month of June to recognising LGBTQIA+ voices, having honest conversations about sexuality and gender, and honouring individuality, through personal essays and allyship guidance. A roster of contributors along with the POPSUGAR team are sharing these stories throughout the month, so be sure to find all our piecesĀ here.
June 2021 is Pride Month, and with the annual occasion comes the opportunity to celebrate and support LGBTQIA+ people and raise awareness for the issues currently faced by the community. This month also pays tribute to the Stonewall Riots, which took place in June 1969.
Pride Month in Sydney brings a number of events, but the occasion extends to a bunch of industries, and fashion is no exception. In 2021, a handful of our favourite labels have released limited-edition collections or pieces that celebrate Pride and the LGBTQIA+ community.
Even better, these shoppable collabs donate sales and proceeds to causes and organisations that directly give back, so you can feel good about your purchase while looking utterly fab.
Here are the Pride collabs we’re shopping this year.
Levi's Community Pride Logo Tee
Levi’s Community Pride T-shirt ($59.95) features a simple white silhouette with a rainbow Levi’s graphic. Available on The Iconic (and modelled by LGBTQIA+ activist Deni TodoroviÄ), the versatile piece allows you to “show your unequivocal support for a society that celebrates all”. Proceeds from the range will go to charity partner Minus18, an organisation supporting local LGBTQIA+ youth.
Sunglass Hut x Doodad & Fandango chain
This limited-edition sunglass chain is a collaboration from two Australian labels: Doodad + Fandango and Sunglass Hut. When it comes to protecting our eyes from the sun, it’s safety first… and style second, and this colourful piece is proof. The two brands teamed up with charity Twenty10, which supports LGBTIQA+ youth through housing, mental health, and counselling, and will donate 10 percent of all sales of the frames with the gift.
It’s available at 10 Sunglass Hut stores around Sydney and is a free gift with purchases over $350.
Reebok Pride Crop Top
Made from at least 30 percent recycled materials, Reebok’s Pride Crop Top ($45) is “for powerful performances everywhere. Gym to stage. Or track to parade. However you move, do it with Pride,” the label says. Available in black and pink, the matching bike shorts ($50) complete the look.
Apple Pride Edition Braided Solo Loop and Nike Sport Loop
In 2021, Apple has released two Pride-themed Apple Watch bands: the Pride Edition Nike Sport Loop ($69) and the Pride Edition Braided Solo Loop ($139). Proceeds from both go on to support Apple’s long-running LGBTQIA+ advocacy organisations Encircle, Gender Spectrum, GLSEN, the Human Rights Campaign, PFLAG National, the National Center for Transgender Equality, The Trevor Project in the US, and more.
Calvin Klein Pride Modern Cotton Bralette
Calvin Klein has launched its #ProudInMyCalvins campaign, which includes an extensive range of underwear, accessories and garments like the Pride Modern Cotton Bralette ($49.95). In 2021, CK is supporting Indigenous Australians by partnering with BlaQ ā the organisation empowers the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTQIA+ community through innovation, inclusion, understanding and advocacy. The label has so far donated $100,000 to the charity and will give a further 30c from every Pride sale this year.
The Upside Unisex Rainbow Muscle Tank
Fitness and lifestyle label The Upside is donating all profits from its Unisex Rainbow Muscle Tank ($89.99) to Twenty10, because “actions speak loudest”. Twenty10 is the longest-running LGBTIQA+ youth organisation offering housing, case management, peer-led counselling, legal and health services where needed.
