As Princess Charlotte grows up, it seems she’s taking a page from mum Kate Middleton’s style handbook. The 7-year-old sat on her dad’s lap to record an Instagram video for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s account in which they wished England’s women’s soccer team, the Lionesses, good luck in the Euro 2020 final match. And she did so in a stylish outfit reminiscent of her mother’s previous looks.
Charlotte wore a navy-blue short-sleeved frock with white polka dots, a print we’ve seen on mum Middleton numerous times before. In fact, the duchess wore polka dots in July twice, and both designs were from Alessandra Rich, one of her go-to labels for sophisticated dresses with eye-catching details.
In June, the royal family shared a photo to celebrate Father’s Day with Charlotte boasting a similar colour palette of navy and white, this time in a ruffle-finished apron dress with a smocked bodice. She also wore a cornflower-blue dress alongside her brothers – George, 9, and Louis, 4 – for their carriage debut at Trooping the Colour on June 2.
While blue is a hue favoured by Middleton and the rest of the family, polka dots specifically make the connection even more significant and help the princess bear striking resemblance to her mother in this new video.
Ahead, reminisce on some of Middleton’s best moments in polka dots in recent history, then push play to rewatch Charlotte’s adorable appearance with her dad.
