7 Wedding Guest Outfit Ideas For This Summer
Okay, so we already know that this summer is going to be jam-packed with weddings, right?
Given that so many weddings that were planned for 2020 and 2021 have had to be rescheduled due to COVID-19 restrictions and lockdowns, this summer is set to be the summer of lurrrrve.
TBH, it’s pretty exciting. Not only do we get to celebrate love, but weddings give us the perfect excuse to dress to the absolute nines. Obviously you don’t want to out-do the bride, but there’s no reason why you can’t look absolutely fabulous.
We’ve put together seven outfit ideas that would be absolutely perfect to wear to a wedding.
1. A Twinset
We just love a good twin-set. They’re just that extra little bit of fun that you need sometimes and the perfect option for a summer wedding. There’s just something about a twinset that feels like more thought has gone into your outfit because it matches, y’know?
Twinsets are always in fashion and there are some gorgeous ones going at the moment.
One of our favourites is from the DISSH Summer 21 collection.
This is Lori Bloom, a 100% linen set from DISSH’s Summer 21 collection, and it’s floral and summery in all the right ways.
We love that it stands out, with it’s gorgeous blue floral print that has a whiff of ’70s to it. It looks casual, yet dressy.
They all come as separate items: the Lori Bloom Linen Crop, Shirt & Midi Skirt, which can be purchased together or separately (but why would you only want one piece!?). This is a gorge example of how a twinset can be taken to the next level.
2. Simple Silk
You can’t go wrong with anything simple and silky. Silk just has a way of always looking absolutely stunning and timeless, while also being super comfortable and cool, which is perfect for a summer wedding.
Silk is also definitely having a moment. There are so many fashion brands with gorgeous silk designs at the moment.
Aussie brand Shona Joy is really well-known for their sustainable silk slips.
The design aesthetic is simple, with small details and they come in a range of gorgeous colours, such as pastel blue and burnt orange.
Another brand that uses silks beautifully, is New Zealand sustainable brand Marle. Their new summer collection is dropping tomorrow, so keep your eyes peeled for some gorgeous pieces incoming.
3. All Linen Everything
You can’t go wrong with linen. It is always stylish, can always be dressed up or down and is just a quintessential summer material that is comfy, sustainable and elegant.
So many brands use linen in their summer collections, but we especially love this Layne Spice Halter Midi Dress from DISSH. It’s summery and casual, but also sexy? It’s also the kind of dress that doesn’t require a bra, which just makes us love it even more.
Pairing something like this with a fun bright green or pastel pink heel and some statement gold jewellery, would make the perfect summer wedding outfit.
4. Something Short
Short hemlines are making a comeback for formal events. Even in wedding trends for 2022, we’re seeing brides opt for shorter wedding dresses, which is fun and we love it.
Wearing a short dress or playsuit for a formal occasional is a total vibe. If you feel cute in it, then it’s always a good idea. Especially with summer on the way, getting those legs out is always a nice feeling; you can tan up and also show of those pins.
5. Fancy Shoes
If you’re going for a simpler style of dress or outfit you can always jazz it up with fancy shoes. Sometimes, shoes can actually make the entire outfit.
Something metallic could be super fun for summer, like these Gabrielle mules by Lana Wilkinson.
Bright colours are also in-fashion at the moment, especially bright greens, pinks and orange. Go bold!
6. Statement Sunnies
Nothing says “fashion darrrling” like a pair of statement sunnies, not to mention that they’re a must-have accessory during the hot Australian summer.
Local Supply recently collaborated with Aje, on a capsule collection for Spring/Summer 2021.
They’ve taken classic vintage styles and modernised them, with bold features and fun colours. You can shop the collection here.
7. Coloured Lippy
I’m going to let you in on a secret: if you’re feeling lazy or it’s too hot for a full face of make up, bold lippy is your answer.
If you choose a warm bold colour, such as Gucci’s Goldie Red, then you can literally get away with lippy, brows and a bit of mascara.
Bold lipstick also adds an element of sass to every outfit, and can really pick you up if you don’t feel like being social.
