I Keep Clothes for 10+ Years — These Are the Pieces I’m Eyeing in the Afterpay Day Sales

These days, I don’t wear too much colour, too many patterns, or too trendy a style. I did when I was younger, and found that I quickly tired of bold pieces — both seeing them in real-life and in the Facebook galleries I’d dedicate to a night out.
I began to shop for pieces that wouldn’t get tired of. I looked for pieces in neutral colours, with simple patterns (if they had any pattern at all), and were made to last.
As a result, I’ve built up an edit of pieces that I’ve either had for more than 10 years or will keep for that amount of time. From this edit, I can put together endless combinations of outfits because most of my clothes are neutral enough to go with anything.
So, with all this said, what am I eyeing in the Afterpay Day sales, currently on until Sunday, March 19? And what do I think you’ll keep wearing for more than 10 years? Scroll down to see my picks.
Assembly Label Leila Linen Jacket, $187.50 (from $250)
This antique white linen blazer will make any outfit look crisp. I’m eyeing it and the matching trousers.
Showpo Mellie Midi Dress, $89.95 (25% off with $100 minimum spend)
I’m a big fan of puffed sleeves, not to mention black dresses, so you can imagine how I feel about this.
Levi’s Ribcage Straight Ankle Jeans, $119.96 (from $159.95)
I already have these jeans already, and I wear them all the time in winter. I can dress them up with a puffy-sleeved top and heels, or down with a jumper and flats.
New Balance 608 Sneakers in White, $132.50 (from $139)
I don’t have this exact pair of New Balance trainers, but I have a similar pair and I wear them at least once a week. Their chunkiness gives them a ‘daggy dad’ feel, and I’m all for it.
Bonds Move Leggings, $40.19 (from $66.99)
“I love these leggings so much I now own three pairs,” wrote one reviewer on the Bonds site. “Soft, buttery fabric, very high-waisted and squat-proof. A bargain for the quality.”
Alias Mae Poet, $140 (from $200)
Though we are going into the cooler months, it’s always worth buying sandals when they’re discounted so you can have them for when it’s warmer. This style won’t date any time soon.
Topshop Satin Bias Midi Skirt, $57 (from $76)
This satin skirt is high-rise and has an elastic fit. It would work for both warmer or cooler weather.
Aere Pin Stripe Linen Pants, $90 (from $120)
Pinstripes are timeless, and so is linen, so these trousers are a win-win. Wear them with a simple tee or, for a going out look, a cropped or bra-style top.
