Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 is here — with some particularly exciting updates for the girlies, including a Spider-Gwen skin and a character played by Brie Larson!
A trailer for the new Paradise update confirmed a rumour that had been swirling for a while now: Brie Larson is the voice and face model for The Paradigm, a character who’s been an important part of the Fortnite lore since Chapter 1 Season 10. Since then, their face has been covered by a helmet, but the trailer finally revealed that the Captain Marvel actor is underneath the mask.
In the trailer, the Paradigm stands in a lab with the Origin, the Scientist and the Visitor as they study a sample of sentient chrome. The chrome consumes everyone except the Paradigm, who escapes at the last second after swearing “This isn’t how it ends.” It seems like fixing the chrome infestation will be the major challenge of the Paradise update.
You’ll be able to use chrome to your advantage, too. The Paradise update added the Chrome Splash, a throwable item that lets you pass through walls. Throw a Chrome Splash at a wood, stone, brick or metal wall to phase through it and get the jump on enemies who think they’re safe behind solid cover. Just watch your back, because they’ll be able to do it to you too!
Or throw a Chrome Splash at your feet to become pure chrome for a short amount of time, becoming immune to fire damage and gaining new movement abilities.
The Paradise update has also introduced map changes, including the Herald’s Sanctum point of interest and a floating city above Condo Canyon.
The Paradise battle pass contains several new skins, including multiple variations of Spider-Gwen from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. You’ll be able to choose between two Spider-Gwen skins, one with her mask and another without.
This means three of Hailee Steinfeld’s characters are in Fortnite, along with Vi from Arcane and Kate from Hawkeye. It’s a good time to be a gamer girl!
