Here’s what we know about Hogwarts Legacy:
- It’s an all-new game set in the Harry Potter universe 100 years before the books
- You create your own witch or wizard starting their fifth year at Hogwarts
- There are brooms, but maybe no Quidditch
- The Collector’s Edition has leaked online
Reddit user BattleDashBR uncovered hidden details on the Hogwarts Legacy website that seem to reveal a Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition and Collector’s Edition of the game. The code has since been patched out of the site, but the information was verified by multiple people, so it looks like it’s legit.
Here’s what’s included in each edition of Hogwarts Legacy:
Hogwarts Legacy Standard Edition
- Hogwarts Legacy game
Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe Edition
- Hogwarts Legacy game
- Thestral Mount
- Dark Arts Cosmetic Pack
- Dark Arts Battle Arena
- Dark Arts Garrison Hat (digital deluxe only)
- 72 hours Early Access to the game (digital deluxe only)
- Kelpie Robe
Hogwarts Legacy Collector’s Edition
- Hogwarts Legacy game
- Thestral Mount
- Dark Arts Cosmetic Pack
- Dark Arts Battle Arena
- Dark Arts Garrison Hat
- 72 hours Early Access to the game
- Kelpie Robe
- Steel Case
- Floating Ancient Magic Wand with Book
Most of the items in the Deluxe and Collector’s Edition seem to be in-game cosmetics, but the sounds like the Collector’s Edition will come with a replica wand (AKA make our dreams come true). Honestly, a Collector’s Edition wand makes perfect sense for a Harry Potter game and we’d be disappointed if Hogwarts Legacy doesn’t do this.
Especially since nothing else in the editions looks very exciting. A few in-game cosmetics and a new mount pale in comparison to a replica of Thor’s hammer Mjolnir, which was included in the God of War: Ragnarok Collector’s Edition. Not that all games need an incredible Collector’s Edition, but Avalanche Software and Warner Bros. have gone out of their way to create two and will most likely charge a premium price for them both.
As for the Hogwarts Legacy release date, that’s still a mystery. It’s scheduled for the 2022 holiday period, but no date has been announced yet. We do know that the PS5 controller will change colour to match your House robes and when you cast spells — no matter which version of the game you buy.
