After years of waiting, Horizon Forbidden West is finally releasing on PS4 and PS5 on February 18. But an finished PS4 build of the game has leaked online, so now’s the time to take precautions if you’re desperate to avoid spoilers. A number of screenshots, videos and assets were leaked and, according to the games news site VGC, the leak “contains the entire core content planned for the final game.”
Thankfully, the leaks have already been taken down by Guerilla Games and Sony, and no new content has been leaked yet, so it’s unlikely you’ll come across anything you don’t want to see on your feeds right now. Still, you might want to put up some filters on socials until the game’s official release. Big games tend to have multiple leaks in the lead up to release, so it wouldn’t be surprising for more screenshots or details about the story to hit the internet in the next few days.
To mute words on Twitter, go to “Privacy and safety” in your app settings and click “Mute and block”. Then you can mute specific words, in this case “Horizon”, “Forbidden” and “West” or the full title. Leaks were also posted to Reddit, so you might want to steer clear of a few subreddits for the moment.
Horizon Forbidden West continues Aloy’s story as she braves a majestic but dangerous new region in a huge open world. In the Forbidden West, you’ll meet huge new machines and tribes as you race to prevent another mysterious extinction event. You’ll reunite with old friends, forge alliances with new, warring factions and unravel the legacy of an ancient past — all the while trying to stay one step ahead of a seemingly undefeatable new enemy.
Guerrilla Games has been carefully revealing details about the machines, tribes, side quests and Aloy’s new abilities on the PlayStation Blog, so you can still get a taste for the game without running the risk of spoiling it for yourself.
