Don’t Speak to Me Or My Pink Son Again Because Kirby’s Dream Buffet Is Out Now
It’s a good time to be a Kirby fan. His new game — his second this year — is out on Switch today. Kirby’s Dream Buffet is a delightful party game where to goal is to eat as many strawberries as possible. The more you eat, the bigger you grow, and the biggest Kirby at the end of the game wins!
There are three game types: race, which is similar to a Fall Guys obstacle course only with food-themed tracks; minigame, where every player is dropped into a ring to compete for a limited amount of strawberries; and battle royale, which is like a more chill Super Smash Bros. Knocking other players off the battle royale stage gives you a chance to steal all of their strawberries.
To help you gobble up the sumptuous strawbs, you collect Copy Food Ability power-ups. Tornado sucks in nearby strawberries, Jelly lets you slip through wall obstacles, and Wheel gives you a big speed boost. Copy Food Abilities like Drill and Stone are unique to battle royale and can give you the upper hand in a fruity confrontation.
Eating strawberries also lets you unlock rewards like costumes, hats and new colours for Kirby. Our favourite? It absolutely has to be the Car-Mouth Cake hat, which lets you wear one of the Mouthful Mode appearances from Kirby and the Forgotten Land on your head.
The game supports 2-player local co-op on the same Switch, local wireless play between up to four nearby Switches and four-player Online Play with people around the world.
Kirby’s Dream Buffet is a Nintendo eShop digital exclusive and costs $22.50.
