Legends Only! Zelda Is Back, and Everything Else Announced At the Nintendo Direct
As is tradition, last night’s September Nintendo Direct was one of the biggest of the year. Among the announcements and trailers that were revealed during the 40 minute livestream, we finally learned the name of the Breath of the Wild sequel and its release date: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will release for Nintendo Switch on May 12, 2023.
But that wasn’t the only thing that made this Direct so memorable. Here are the biggest trailers and announcements from the September Nintendo Direct.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Booster Course Pass Wave 3
We got a sneak peak at the courses being added in the next DLC, including Merry Mountain from Mario Kart Tour and Peach Gardens from Mario Kart DS.
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
This was a condensed version of the trailer we saw at Ubisoft Forward, but we’ll take any look we can get at the new Mario + Rabbids game ahead of its October 20 release date. Nintendo also confirmed a season pass, which you can get in the Gold Edition, on sale now from the Nintendo eShop.
Nintendo Switch Sports Is Getting Golf
Twenty one holes from the Wii Sports series are coming to Nintendo Switch Sports. You’ll be able to play locally or with up to 8 players online in Survival Golf, where players with the most strokes will be eliminated. The update has been delayed slightly and is now coming out during the holiday season.
Pikmin 4 Was Announced
All we know is that it will be released sometime in 2023 and that you’ll be able to play from the Pikmin’s perspective.
Just Dance 2023 Looks Great
Coming out in November on Nintendo Switch, the new Just Dance will feature an online multiplayer mode and year-long seasons of new songs.
Resident Evil Village Is Coming to Switch
Four Resident Evil games are coming to Switch, including Village, Biohazard, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3.
Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe Is Coming to Switch
Kirby’s Wii classic is being remastered for Nintendo Switch. It’s coming out on February 24, 2023.
Tunic Is Releasing On Nintendo Switch
The super cute Soulslike Tunic is coming to Switch on September 27 and pre-orders on the Nintendo eShop are live.
Splatoon 3 Splatfest
The first Splatfest for Splatoon 3 will begin on Saturday, September 24 at 10am and run until Monday, September 26 at 10am.
Mario Strikers: Battle League Is Getting Its Second Free Update
The update, coming out later in September, will add Pauline, Diddy Kong, more gear and a new stadium.
New Nintendo 64 Games Coming to Switch
Mario Party 1, 2 and 3 are coming to Nintendo Switch Online, along with Pokémon Stadium 1 and 2 and GoldenEye 007.
Fae Farm Is a New Farm Sim RPG
The life sim aspect of Animal Crossing meets magical combat in Fae Farm. It looks like a perfect cozy game and it’s coming out for Switch in Autumn 2023.
Fire Emblem Engage
Become the Divine Dragon and save the continent of Elyos when Fire Emblem Engage launches on January 20, 2023. The Divine Edition will include the game, a SteelBook, art cards and an art book.

This is the one we’ve all been waiting for! The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom finally has a release date, and it’s sooner than we’d hoped tbh — it’s releasing for Switch on May 12, 2023. The trailer didn’t reveal much gameplay, but we’ll take it!
