Here's the Song on Adele's 30 That Describes Your Zodiac Sign Almost *Too* Well
When will my tear ducts ever know peace? After a cute week of sobbing to every track on Red (Taylor’s Version), I’m starting fresh with the release of Adele’s 30, which, despite much mental preparation, has wrecked me beyond repair – and I’m not even married, much less divorced. Given how quickly the album has soared to the top of various charts, I’m not alone. With relatable feelings oozing from every line, Adele’s new album seems to have struck a cord with everyone. And the more you listen, the more meaning you’ll find, not just about Adele’s personal journey, but about your own. No matter which is your favourite, one of Adele’s 30 songs relates to your zodiac sign more so than the others.
Adele’s already confirmed that the songs on 30 gradually tell the story of the life and person she knew falling apart and coming back together. She’s also referenced her own astrological experiences, more specifically her Saturn Return, an astrological event that shakes things up for everyone around the time they turn 30, and how it coincided with one of the more tumultuous periods in her life. This is a prime example of how, even if you don’t subscribe to everything about astrology, the stars can help you learn a little more about yourself if you want them to. Once you know which of Adele’s 30 songs best fits your zodiac sign’s characteristics and why, you might be surprised how close to home it hits.
Aries (March 21-April 19): “Strangers By Nature”
This song is a little bit of a wildcard, much like you, Aries. In her recent Rolling Stone cover interview, Adele alluded to the idea that “Strangers By Nature” calls back to being a little of a “hot mess” and could be considered her “Death Becomes Her moment,” a 1992 movie about the cost of greed, vanity, and death. This is not at all to say that you are greedy or vain, Aries – not in the slightest. Instead, “Strangers By Nature,” IMO, can speak to your confidence, your impulsivity, and your willingness to dive into anything head first, even if it doesn’t end well. As the youngest sign of the zodiac, you have a lot learn, and “Strangers By Nature” also speaks to your capacity for growth and compassion.
Taurus (April 20-May 20): “Hold On”
You are strong, stable, and dependable on the outside, Taurus. Not only do you love to be in control and keep things the way you like them, but you tend to be a pretty private person who will go to great lengths to maintain that outward cool, calm, and collected appearance for the sake of everyone else, even when you’re really hurting. The truth is, when things shift out of your control, it can rock you pretty hard emotionally. In those times, it’s important to remember to hold on, because after you allow yourself to really feel whatever you’re feeling (which you should) and give yourself grace, you can call on that inner strength to lift you back up.
Gemini (May 21-June 20): “All Night Parking”
The easy, fluid melody of “All Night Parking” is absolutely reminiscent of ultra-smooth Gemini. You are so effortlessly friendly, and you can suck anyone right into your atmosphere with your charm. When you find yourself in love smitten with someone – which may not take long since you can be seduced pretty easily – you get sucked in, too. You crave the fun feeling of those initial stages of attraction, and because you’re so eager to get to know this person, you may find yourself wanting to spend all your time with them.
Cancer (June 21-July 22): “My Little Love”
Even though Adele’s “My Little Love” is a sweet homage to her son Angelo, at its core, this song has all the qualities of a Cancer: it’s warm, it’s tender, and it’s so freaking emotional. It also speaks to your depth, Cancer. On the outside, you are relentlessly kind, and you care for your loved ones so fiercely. But you contain multitudes that extend as deep as the ocean, and these layers are everything all at once – sensitive, joyful, loving, vulnerable, confusing, and more. You want to avoid feeling like a burden to anyone so much, that sometimes, you retreat inward, falling deep into this emotional jungle that can feel particularly overwhelming.
Leo (July 23-Aug. 22): “Can I Get It”
You love being in love, Leo. And with your warm, confident, inviting personality, you typically don’t have any trouble making romantic connections and finding flings. But you also love diving into something deeper. When you’ve found a person you like who’s just as outgoing and confident, you want more, and you take on the seductive, eager, almost impatient nature of “Can I Get It.” You’ll likely start falling hard and feeling like you’d walk to the ends of the Earth to love and be loved by this person.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): “I Drink Wine”
You aren’t the only sign that loves wine, Virgo, but that’s not why this song suits you. “I took everything so personally at that period of time in my life,” Adele told Rolling Stone of “I Drink Wine,” “so the lyric ‘I hope I learn to get over myself’ is like [me saying] ‘Once I’ve done that, then maybe I can let you love me.'” Virgo, you are so caring, so resourceful, so smart, and so attached to the idea of perfection that anything less can throw you off your game entirely. No matter what, not everything – even you – will be perfect, and that’s OK. When you accept that, you might find that life gets a little bit easier for you.
Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): “Easy On Me”
Adele’s “Easy On Me” lyrics are bursting with Libra energy, particularly the line “I changed who I was to put you both first.” Especially in love, you tend to romanticise your connections, looking at them through rose-coloured glasses and with child-like excitement. You might find you even place your love on a pedestal and go to great lengths to keep the peace, even if that means changing yourself to fit what you think someone needs. But you can only do that for so long, Libra. And as much as you hope other people go easy on you for that, it’s you who should go easy on yourself.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): “Cry Your Heart Out”
Scorpio, you and I both know you aren’t one to show emotion anywhere other than in a locked room, completely isolated. (I should know; I am one.) Despite being a passionate water sign who’s so capable of showering loved ones with a rare kind of love and loyalty, you have a tendency to isolate, especially when going through a difficult time. You’re not afraid to sit with negative emotions, picking them apart and analysing them like a map but never really feeling them. Give yourself a break. Have a good cry that allows you to feel your feelings. Trust me, you’ll feel better.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): “Woman Like Me”
You know you light up the room when you walk in, Sagittarius. You infuse your fun, adventurous, inquisitive spirit into every situation, and when you fall in love with someone, you do so with the hope that they’ll approach life and your relationship with the same genuine lightheartedness and joy. Just like Adele sings in “Woman Like Me,” to you, complacency is the worst trait. Given how heavily you prioritise your personal values and happiness over everything else, you’re not afraid to drop someone like that in a second.
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20): “Oh My God”
You don’t put walls up just for giggles, Capricorn. You know that, yes, but not everyone else does. Being ruled by Saturn, the planet of responsibility and discipline, is absolutely as hard as it sounds. It’s likely you feel like you’re under an enormous amount of pressure all the time, unable to let loose and dive into anything willy-nilly for fear of it or you spinning out of control. Sometimes, though, relinquishing some level of control in a situation is a good thing. Things might fall apart, yes, but consider the opposite possibility: they might be better than you imagined.
Aquarius (Jan. 21-Feb. 18): “Love Is A Game”
“Love Is A Game” hits home for you, Aquarius, because love certainly is a game that you may have a hard time figuring out. You don’t show love in the same way everyone else does. That isn’t a bad thing, and that doesn’t make your love any less valid. In fact, you approach love so personally, forgoing tired, generic displays of affection in favor of gestures so creative and unique to your lover. It’s beautifully genuine, but sadly, not every person sees it that way. And if you’ve found yourself in a string of relationships in which your quirks aren’t appreciated, you might find yourself feeling pretty cynical about love.
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20): “To Be Loved”
The entirety of “To Be Loved” could not describe your approach to love more if it tried, Pisces. You look at love with such wonder and optimism, and when you’re in love, you positively wrap yourself in it, to the point where nothing else matters except you, your partner, and the dreams you’ll bring to life together. Unfortunately, few things in life are destined for such sublimity. The fall from the clouds hurts like hell, and boy, do you feel it when it comes. But what’s special about you, Pisces, is that you always seem to pick yourself back up and try to love with the same energy again.
