Abbie Chatfield knows a lot about sex. She talks about it often on her podcast It’s A Lot and in 2022, shared that she’d had with around 80 partners. In the last couple years, she’s teamed up with Australian sexual wellness brand Normal to use that knowledge to create sex toys and kits including a butt plug that sold out.
Chatfield’s latest collab with Normal is a Kink Kit ($160 or $144 for email subscribers) that lets users explore their fantasies. It’s described online as an elevated twist on kink essentials.
The four-piece set includes a silk-lined, padded blindfold, padded cuffs, double-ended paddle with a crop and tassel and a kink menu. All of it’s packaged in a discreet canvas storage sack and sent in a discreet recyclable mailer bag. Helpfully, you can watch one of five educational videos online that explain how to make the most of the kid.
“As I’m sure you can all tell, I’m on a mission to make sure all of us have the best sex we can have – and some of the best sex I’ve had has included kink,” Chatfield says. “It always includes me being a sub though, so not much range but we try.”
Chatfield who’s dating Peking Duk’s Adam Hyde says her favourite part of the kit is the menu. It’s a list of different kinks and sexual interests you can go through by yourself or with a partner to say what you’re into, not into or need more info on.
“We created Normal because we think everyone deserves to ‘find their normal’ without shame or stigma when it comes to sex and pleasure,” says Lucy Wark, the brand’s co-founder.
“Our Big Australian Sex Survey research found that kink is the #1 fantasy among younger Australian women, but we also found there are four reasons why people don’t make the leap from fantasy to exploring it in reality. They’re worried it could feel awkward, don’t feel confident communicating about it, don’t have enough education on how to start and are fearful of judgement.”
The Kink Kit was designed to let beginners explore their kinks for the first time at an accessible price point — and to help people overcome their blockers. It comes with a 100-night trial policy and one-year warranty. You can find heaps of useful info on kinks and sexual wellness on Normal’s blog here.
