I’ve never been a fashionable person. Growing up I resented those who could pick a top and a skirt from my closet and make it into an outfit. To me, that same skirt and top are just that — separate pieces of clothing. When I was in high school, being fashion-blind wasn’t an issue.
Even in college, I could get away with branded crew necks, but when I moved to New York, I was up against the designer labels, the cool streetwear lines, and everything I was unfamiliar with. I managed to impress with a silk skirt here and there, or a dress. I love dresses because you don’t need to match bottoms, and I can make a statement with colour or pattern. While my closet could do with a serious upgrade, I take pride in walking around with my repertoire of tech.
I never quite figured out the return of the halter top or sported the latest coat, but at any given moment, I’m carrying my beautiful, retro-style Sony A7R3, and as of recently, the Thom Browne Samsung Galaxy ZFold3, which is a special edition from the iconic New York Designer himself, Thom Browne.
Living in New York, working as a lifestyle journalist, I was fortunate enough to attend New York Fashion Week every year. Now I know what you’re thinking, how can a person inept with fashion trends cover the most prestigious fashion events of the year? Well, jokes on you, I mostly did profiles on the designers, which was my specialty. Regardless, you would think being surrounded by chiffon, silk, and leather would rub off on my style but it didn’t.
Today, I look to my boyfriend to approve my outfits before I leave the house. Trust me, if it were up to me, I’d leave the house looking like a character from a 2000s teen drama. I’m very much into block colours and simple jeans.

I must admit, walking around with the watch and the phone, which are my favourite gadgets in this range did give me the confidence I assume you would get from sporting your favourite statement jeans, or a power suit. I’ve always wanted to try one, but I think now, I can give it a try.
As much as I love my tech to look good, I also need it to perform. I’m always on the go, I travel a lot, I’m constantly taking photos and videos, creating content for multiple platforms, so I need a phone that can do it all. The great thing about the Galaxy FoldZ3 is its screen size. I love a big screen and this has a screen that folds open, so you can email and scroll through social media as if you were on a tablet.
There is also the option to have multiple configurations of the screen depending on what you want to see. You can split-screen vertically or horizontally. You can just use the front screen when it’s folded, or open it up to use the full screen or half screen. What I like to do is put Youtube on the top half of the screen and then whatever I’m scrolling through on the bottom half. You don’t realise how handy it is to split-screen on a phone until you use it every day.
The camera is unbelievable too. I almost don’t need to walk around with my SonyA7R3, but I always like to have it just in case. There are three lenses on it, capturing 4, 10, and 12 megapixels, with an ultra-wide, wide, and telephoto capability. There are 17 camera modes from night to food, slow motion, and director’s view. I also found out it shoots 4K videos with hyper-lapse and slow-motion capability — perfect for Instagram reels.
In all honesty, walking around with Thom Browne Samsung Galaxy ZFold3 has changed my relationship with fashion. I’ve never had my tech crossover with fashion before. Just wearing the watch makes me feel, a step more confident with my outfit choices. While I still have a long way to go before I can confidently put a top and skirt together and call it an outfit, I can genuinely say the Thom Browne Samsung Galaxy ZFold 3 is the most fashionable accessory I own to date.
Who knows, maybe I’ll go out and buy a pastel-toned blazer and white knee-high boots, or whatever the cool kids are wearing today.
