This Fashion-Themed Café Is Ideal For Girls’ Lunch

Vogue Cafe Sydney

Round up the crew — Sydney’s got a stunning new lunch and dinner venue. Spread across two floors, Vogue Café is airy with views of sparkling Darling Harbour from floor-to-ceiling windows and several set menus that make for easy group bill-splitting (though it’s got a la carte too).

Perch at its mosaic-tiled bar with a friend or two for a cocktail or wine after work. Or come with a group and settle into velvet green armchairs at a table, admiring images from past Vogue Australia photoshoots framed on the walls. The café’s interiors are by designers Callie Van Der Merwe and Roberto Zambri from award-winning Australian design agency COOOP.

The food is equally impressive, with the menu created in consultation with hatted chef Zachary Ng from Darlinghurst’s Restaurant Ka. Local, seasonal and sustainably sourced produce take centre stage. A highlight is a $298 seafood platter, served on a two-tiered stand and designed to be shared. It features live lobster drizzled in lemon olive oil, Australian oysters with apple vinaigrette and Hokkaido scallops in prawn oil.

If seafood isn’t your thing, order the applewood-smoked marble Wagyu sirloin paired with mustard seed and sweet soy jus or a squid ink pasta in a prawn cream sauce and topped with tiger prawns. Order a la carte or one of several tasting menus including a standard (four-person minimum), vegetarian, premium and high-tea.

Cocktails showcase Australian native ingredients and liquors from Australian distilleries. They include The Ribbon with Davidson Plum amaro, rhubarb and soda, Tokyo Runway with Glenmorangie and yuzu, and Cowboy Boulevard with Earl Grey bourbon, amaro, honey and chocolate tuile. The restaurant has Australian and international wine and beer too.

“Vogue Café will introduce a dynamic fusion of fashion and gastronomy to Australia’s vibrant hospitality scene,” says Peter Wang, director of Lowan Capital, which partnered with Conde Nast International on the café.

Vogue Café is located inside The Ribbon on 35 Wheat Road in Darling Harbour near W Sydney, IMAX Theatre and the International Convention Centre. It’s open Monday to Sunday from 11:30am until 10pm or 12am, depending on the night.
