Transform Your To-Do List With Your Zodiac Sign
Endless to-do lists are a universal language these days. No matter who you are or what industry you work in, new tasks spawn at work and at home seemingly faster than any of us can get them done. If you’re sick of feeling like your insurmountable list of tasks is calling the shots in your life, try some of these tips below to turn your to-do list on its head in ways compatible with your zodiac sign.
According to astrologer and coach Andrada Dara, it’s best to check your sun, moon, and rising signs – the Big Three – to find a to-do-list mentality that really resonates with you.
Do-Less List: Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn
Just because you can do everything doesn’t mean you should. Each of these three signs is capable of doing most everything they commit to, which is part of what makes them so amazing. For Virgos, Scorpios, and Capricorns, taking work to the next level isn’t about doing more but about learning to do less.
Be the leaders you know you are, and practice delegating. Ask yourself: Does this need to be done now? Does it need to be done by me? Does it need to be done at all? Use these questions to find a handful of things on your to-do list that someone else can do, and ask them for help. Yes, asking for help can feel scary, but once you get in the habit of delegating, you’ll be amazed how your overwhelmed mindset can change.
Making time to rest and recharge is a massive achievement; don’t let anyone convince you otherwise.
Do-For-You List: Taurus, Cancer, Libra
Taurus, Cancer, and Libra can all benefit from this strategy of putting themselves first, though for slightly different reasons. Tauruses can often neglect themselves to get through the daily grind, eventually grinding themselves down in the process. Cancers are amazing problem solvers – often for everyone but themselves. And Libras are always striving for greater harmony and balance.
The key to balance and productivity if you are one of these signs is carving out time to make yourself a priority. What are three things you can drop, delegate, or delay this week? Once you identify them, let them go. Now add one thing that’s just for you. Maybe it’s reading time, sleeping in a little bit, or working on a fun creative project. Anything that feels restorative will do the trick.
Being there for yourself is the first step to being there for others, and you don’t have to accomplish anything to be deserving of some you time.
Ta-Da! List: Aries, Gemini, Leo
These three signs don’t always have a lot in common, but one place they overlap is that each of them loves to shine. Aries builds momentum through accomplishment and impact, Gemini thrives when they’re at the center of what’s happening, and Leo loves the spotlight.
So start your day with a ta-da! list instead of a traditional to-do list. A ta-da! list includes all the amazing things you completed recently. It’s a great opportunity to reflect on the amazing things you’ve done before you dedicate yourself to your next activity. Keep in mind there is no strict barometer for what accomplishments can be included on your ta-da! list; whether it’s completing a challenging work project, finishing a book you’ve been reading, or finally returning that package to the post office, no task is too big or small to be celebrated. This is an inspiring exercise for any sign, but Aries, Gemini, and Leo will find it especially motivating to see all they are capable of before tackling a new set of tasks. For Aries and Leo, this may replace a traditional to-do list; Gemini will benefit from adding it to their many existing lists.
Let the glow of being amazing carry you through the mundane parts of your day.
To-Be List: Sagittarius, Aquarius, Pisces
Let’s be honest, a to-do list as a Sagittarius, Aquarius, or Pisces is a spotty venture. Some days, it’s exactly the guidance you need, keeping you focused and on track, but other days, it’s your worst enemy, confining you to a list of rigid expectations and tasks you have no interest in completing.
For many in these signs, writing out your tasks is little more than an exercise in procrastination. If this is you, consider this your official permission slip to ditch the to-do list. When it comes down to it, at a basic level, you know what needs to be done. Instead of focusing on a to-do list, try keeping a to-be list: Who do you want to be? What do you want to manifest in the world? Why? Directing your thoughts and energies toward your big-picture goals instead of getting bogged down in the tiny tasks will keep you motivated and inspired. Having those big goals in mind is also a constant reminder why you have to complete certain tasks, and once you understand the why, the task will become a million times easier.
Keep that big picture front and center in your every day (and update it as needed!) to stay inspired.
